CULTIVATE YOUR NEIGHBOURS
Is'nt ironical that in am age when information technology is developing at breakneck speed, enabling us to communicate with anyone around the globe in a matter of seconds, most people don't know who their next door neighbour is?
Most of us, especially in the city, are oblivious to the identity of the person next door. No one seems to have the time or energy to maintain neighbourly relations anymore.
It is paramount that neighbours should by each other, if for no other reason than the fact that these are dangerous times we live in. We need to place more emphasis on the need to co-exist with our neighbours in harmony and support one another in times of need.
Neighbours can be real godsend during a crisis. It is always comforting to know that help is easily accessible. After all, it is not always relatives and friends to arrive on the scene in the nick of time.
Even if you cannot spend as much time with your neighbour as wot would like to, try to grab the opportunity especially during festivals. Exchange food, gifts, and invite then over for lunch or barbecue get together. Strive to live together as one big family. This is not an impossible task if wot take a real interest in wots next door neighbour.
It is quite hypocritical in case where all occupants in a certain building gather to pay their condolence to a bereaved spouse of their neighbour, for instance, and most of then don't even know the dead person's name! Don't let it get to a point where you are so busy with your own life that wot don't take time to know your neighbour.
As the Danish proverb goes; "No one is rich enough to do without a neighbour". So throw open your doors and welcome the people next door into your home and heart. It would make a whole lot difference to your world.
